If you are working from a right motive, and doing your best under the guidance of a loving Father in heaven, your work cannot be and is not failure… Remember that the Lord never lays work upon His people that He does not give them strength or ability to perform, and if it please Him in the working out of His great purposes that life shall be sacrificed or cut short in the midst of the work, be assured that the work will not permanently suffer from such a cause.

Another day, another post for the challenge. Today I want to share two IFTTT snippets I made to run this blog. Disclaimer: completely untested, this is the test ;)

The first is to send webmentions: RSS + Web Request

A similar approach is used for the second snippet. Here I combine the same RSS feed with the Twitter integration to post to my Twitter account.

As I have a stream styled blog, all in one single page, I don't know if these work. Especially the first one is tricky. So here we go: a previous post

In a follow up post I will let you know if everything works.

Just a small extra:

When work does not turn out as was expected or intended, do not let it depress you.

It has been a long time since I posted on this blog, too long if you ask me.

It has been a long time since I posted on this blog, too long if you ask me. So time to change that. I changed my posting method, again. Oh well. My current setup is the following:

  • editor: VS Code
  • static site generator: PHP and wget, glued together with a short CMD script
  • upload tool: rclone
  • file hosting: Backblaze B2
  • CDN: BunnyCDN
  • recieving webmentions: webmention.io

Is this a superb setup? Possibly not. Does it work? I hope so ;)

War in Yemen, Made in Europe

Last Saturday, I participated in a direct action against the war in Yemen, the biggest humanitarian crises in the world right now, according to the United Nations, a war in which we as Europeans carry an enormous responsibility.

This concrete action was targeting the visit of the Bahri Yanbu to the Port of Antwerp. This Saudi owned vessel is notorious for transporting tons of weapons, ammunition and explosives to Saudi Arabia for use in Yemen.

In the period 2018-2019 this ship picked up 53 tons in Antwerp alone, as found by Belgian newspaper Le Soir and magazine Knack.

As War Crime Inspectors we checked if passing trucks where transporting weapons or explosives. If not, they were greeted by a cheering crowd and got a vignette for being an Arms Free Truck. In the evening, we got the news that the Bahri Yambu is denied access, so a huge win for peaceful protest.

In order the make this more than a personal anecdote, I welcome everyone to the protests organised across Europe in honour of the 5th Anniversary of the war to be held 25th March.
